I’m sharing devastating photos of my baby boy so no other parents have to endure our hell

A MUM has issued an urgent warning to parents after her little boy was left with a fractured skull from falling out of his Moses basket.

At just eight days old, little Tytus had been placed in the basket on the kitchen bench.

His mum explained how their pet cats got their claws stuck in the wicker of the Moses basket, before pulling it down onto the tiled floor.

This resulted in a broken collarbone and fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and a stay in the newborn intensive care unit (NICU).

Pictures show bruises on Tytus’ head and behind his ear from the impact of the fall.

The family decided to share their story via the Tiny Hearts Education Instagram page, so that others don’t have to go through the same experience.

Mum and CEO of Tiny Hearts Education, Nikki Jurcutz, said: “We would get a message at least once a week about this and it’s such an important reminder… never leave your child up high, it only takes a split second for something to go wrong. “

Luckily, Tytus made a full recovery, but the mum is now urging others to take care when using Moses baskets.

She said: “I now see so many parents popping their baskets, bounces and bumbles on the bench but please take it from me. Please stop.

“My boy is now thriving and hitting all of his milestones, thank goodness.”

A bleed on the brain is a serious condition and bleeding on the surface of the brain is called a subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH).

When an artery inside the brain bursts it is called an intracerebral haemorrhage.

Blood can leak out into the brain tissue at high pressure, killing brain cells and causing brain swelling.

A bleed on the brain can be life threatening and can also result in brain damage.

Moses baskets are a safe and traditional item to use for newborn babies.

Experts at Which say that when you use a Moses basket you need to make sure that they conform to the latest safety standard: BS EN 1466: 2014.

If you buy a Moses basket second hand or use one that a family member has passed you down then you should make sure that you replace the mattress.

This is because a shrinking or sagging mattress can be hazardous to your baby.
