Marks and Spencer opens its latest North Wales store today. The retailer has moved from Mostyn Street to a new site on Parc Llandudno.
They have taken on the former Debenhams unit after that brand closed last spring and that site officially opens at 10am today. M&S gave North Wales Live a quick look inside ahead of the opening.
They said this is the very first store of its kind in Wales with a fresh-market-style Foodhall “bursting with modern and sustainable features”. It includes a 4ft cheese barge, a pick your own eggs section, Scan & Shop, and a 119-seat digital café.
Customers can order from the new Grab and Go touch screens whilst enjoying barista-made drinks. The spacious Clothing & Home department offers womenswear favorites including Per Una and M & S’s popular activewear collection, Goodmove.
There is also a homeware section. The full range of M&S Clothing & Home products can also be ordered via the Click & Collect service.
M&S are creating another 50 jobs, taking total job numbers to over 160. Yesterday afternoon workers at the Mostyn Street store walked together to the new site to mark the relocation.
The Maelgwn Male Voice Choir and San Sior School Choir will perform at the store opening today as well as a harpist from Ysgol y Creuddyn. Store manager Katie Whelan said: “My team and I are really excited to welcome the local community to our new Llandudno store. As the first store of its kind in Wales, we also take pride in leading the way to make shopping more enjoyable and convenient. “
