Catherine Tyldesley reveals she went through ‘straddle’ positions with her ‘chilled’ husband Tom Pitfield before filming sex scenes to make sure she didn’t have ‘cauliflower a **’

Catherine Tyldesley has revealed she would go through sex positions with her husband the night before rehearsals to check she was going to look good.

The former Coronation Street soap star, 38, also described how her ‘chilled’ husband Tom Pitfield would come on set and watch her kiss other actors.

Speaking to The Hot Mess Mums Club podcast, Catherine said Tom checked how she might look in ‘straddle’ positions to make sure she didn’t have ‘cauliflower a **’ on screen.

She added that Tom put her on-screen sex scenes before getting pregnant in real life and he caught her shaving her legs ready for filming.

Catherine, who played Eva Price on Corrie, said: ‘Tom is incredible. He is the most chilled out supportive guy because a lot of my relationships before Tom, well in fact all of them, ended because of my job. They just didn’t get it. Tom is so chilled.

‘I remember the night before rehearsals for my sex scenes and I was like “so babe, if I straddle like this, does my bum look really bad – have we got cauliflower a **?”

‘Tom said “yeah, just angle it a bit like that”. I know chilled.

‘And in the morning, we were in lockdown, we were filming these scenes, I was shaving my legs, and he went “oh, bloody hell, I’ve not seen shaved legs since week one”.

‘I was like “sorry babe, it’s got to be done”. So he’s great. He’s been there on set when I’ve had to snog other actors. ‘

Catherine added that it was good for Tom to see her looking passionate with other stars because he would realize it was all fake and not a turn-on in the studio.

She said: ‘I think that’s good for them because Tom being on set can see how clinical it is – it’s not remotely sexy.’

Catherine, who has a son Alfie, seven, with Tom, told how the couple put off her current pregnancy because of work.

She said: ‘We kept putting it off because of work and I had a job at the time where I had sex scenes and stuff, and I was like “ok, I can’t get pregnant”.

‘It was always the job or something – that I couldn’t get pregnant. And in the end I went “this is silly”.

‘Being pregnant, although when you’re in the thick of it, it seems really hard, I’ll look back on this as such as small tiny section of my life.

‘I don’t want to look back in years to come and go “oh my god, why didn’t we just do it”. Your family and friends are everything.

‘You’re not going to lie on your death bid and go “I wish I’d done a few days more work”.’
