Newquay Airport is set to start operating a new flight service in time for the summer with Eastern Airways. The new service, commencing on Friday April 1, will operate twice weekly each way.
The new route increases regional connectivity from the Humber and Yorkshire region to Cornwall’s main airport. It will depart Humberside at 11:10 am on both Mondays and Fridays, with a return service leaving Newquay Airport at 1.05pm. The flight time is a little over an hour each way.
The flight schedule is said to have been designed to provide maximum opportunity for long weekend stays, weekly commuting and those who also wish to visit friends or family, avoiding the otherwise seven-hour drive or eight-hour rail journey between the regions. With fares on the route starting from £ 74.99 one-way, including a complimentary 15kg hold bag and all taxes and charges, flights are available to book now on the Eastern Airways website.

Adam Wheatley, Managing Director of Eastern Airways, said: “From our home base at Humberside, the addition of Cornwall Newquay, our newest base, helps connect one of the most distant surface transport journeys from the Humber Bank, Lincolnshire and East Riding of Yorkshire to one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. All services from Humberside operate on low emission aircraft fitting our belief in how sustainable aviation can meet the need of the UK economy and extensive connectivity into the future. “

Deborah Zost, Managing Director of Humberside Airport also said: “The addition of a twice weekly service to Cornwall Airport Newquay, operated by Eastern Airways, is fantastic news particularly as the economy begins to gather pace again after two very challenging years. Eastern Airways currently operates routes to Aberdeen and Jersey from its home base at Humberside Airport, and I am sure this service will be a welcome addition for holidaymakers looking to access the beautiful region of Cornwall from their local airport. “
While Sam O’Dwyer, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay added: “We’re delighted to be adding Humberside to our network with Eastern Airways from Cornwall. With the demand for domestic travel increasing rapidly again now we are confident that this route will prove popular with those looking to find an efficient and cost-effective way to travel between the two regions. “
