There is something about this year’s Holi that makes the festivities feel even more special. Maybe it was the absence of it for the past two years that makes it feel nostalgic. It is like the world has been in black and white, and now we get to paint the town with as many colors as we want, to celebrate love with family and friends.
I’d like to think this is Holi’s big comeback. Once again, people will be able to come together and truly feel the vibrant and high-spirited atmosphere the celebration is known for. It is a refreshing break from our daily routines of the “new normal” and having dealt with the pandemic for about two years now.
My favorite part of enjoying this festival in the past few days is seeing different colors making life so interesting more colors, more celebrations, and more fun with the people we love.
I am having a new routine. As soon as I wake up on the morning of Holi, I always like to set up the mood by blasting a Bollywood playlist to dance along to while I make my preparations. The music always hypes me up for the festivities. I always choose an outfit that is predominantly white, so the colors (and fun) reflect better once we really get the party started. But of course, aside from the colored water, sprays, and music, the celebration would not be complete without food. McDonald’s Spicy Deluxe Crispy Chicken is part of my new routine. It is boldly spicy as my favorite Bollywood music, just like music to my ears. It also has abundant with colors – golden crispy chicken, green lettuce, red tomato. It doesn’t matter if I take a big bite or small bite, my taste bud dances.
I am feeling the warmth not just from the spiciness of the Spicy Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich, but also from being home and celebrating Holi. It is the warmth of being together with friends and families again and having conversations with them while having a juicy and delicious meal.
It is the smallest things that make us feel the warmth of celebrating a festival that has always brightened up our spirits.
