BOSSES on The Apprentice banned fired candidate Amy Anzel from its final celebration show after she complained Lord Sugar posted “hurtful and insulting” tweets about her.
The US cosmetics entrepreneur missed out on spin-off You’re Hired, to be aired right after the main show’s final.
Amy – the oldest ever contestant at 48 – told how she had to undergo therapy after filming the BBC business competition.
She was left distraught after Lord Sugar posted a tweet saying: “Amy didn’t sell she was so slow. Slower than broadband Wi-Fi in Cornwall. “
A friend said: “She couldn’t get her head around her firing.
“It came in week six because she’d not taken on the project manager role – but they’d failed to show she had put herself up for it in week two.
“She believed it was just an excuse to get rid of her.
“When Lord Sugar posted his tweets, she thought they were nasty, hurtful and insulting and told them so in an email.”
They added: “She knew the final taping was happening last Wednesday but they ignored her phone calls and emails again. Then Amy got an email saying that invitations were issued at their discretion di lei. “
On Wednesday morning, Amy had a Zoom meeting with production bosses at Naked TV, which makes the series for the BBC.
The pal went on: “She felt humiliated during that call.”
Navid Sole, 27, and Harry Mahmood, 38, were also absent from You’re Hired after it was reported they had a heated exchange with ex-RAF man Aaron Willis, 38.
Viewers on Thursday will see Kathryn Burn, 29, and Harpreet Kaur, 30, battle it out in the final to become Lord Sugar’s business partner with a £ 250,000 investment.
Amy, Navid and Harry will be seen returning to help Kathryn and Harpreet on a last task – but not in the studio spin-off afterwards.
Fired candidates including Brittany Carter, Stephanie Affleck and Francesca Kennedy Wallbank were this week seen laughing in party dresses at the You’re Hired shoot.
An Apprentice source said: “Invitations to You’re Hired are always discretionary and never guaranteed.”
