EastEnders spoilers – character recast in Slaters feud story

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has recast young Arthur Fowler in Stacey and Jean Slater’s ongoing feud storyline.

Young actor Rocco Brenner has recently made his first appearance as Stacey Slater’s son Arthur, as the character looks to take a central role in this week’s episodes.

His predecessor, Hunter Bell, recently shared on Instagram that he’d filmed his final scenes as Arthur in order to “try different things in life” as a six-year-old.

“After 6 years of my 6 year old life I have been a character on #bbcone most popular Soap EastEnders. From a Baby I was selected to Play #BabyArthur by the amazing @ desouzie84,” read a statement absolutely not written by his parents.

“Since then I matured into the little Arthur Fowler you have all come to know and love.”

Monday’s (March 21) episode kicked off a week-long series of scenes that sees the strain growing between Stacey and her mum Jean, partially because of a disagreement over Arthur.

The new Arthur Fowler

Jean argued that it’s high time for Stacey to tell her young son the truth about his father Kush Kazemi being murdered by Gray Atkins before he hears it from other kids in the Square.

“When it comes to family, the right thing isn’t always the easy thing,” Jean told her daughter.

Jean later surprised Martin by announcing she’d ordered a bouncy castle to help keep the kids’ spirits up, as Tommy Moon has been going through his own troubles. Honey Mitchell took exception because the castle was blocking the street.

“I’m trying to cheer up my grandson, whose father was murdered, so please tell me, what is so wrong with that?” Jean asked Honey.

Jean joined the children in enthusiastically playing in the bouncy castle, but Arthur showed Stacey and Eve he’d been hurt during all the jumping.

“Nanny Jean did it,” Arthur explained.

Stacey tried to get Jean to come down from the bouncy castle but was shoved by her mum. Stacey was worried as Harvey joined Jean in the bouncy castle while other residents gawked and laughed.

Later, Stacey confronted Jean once everyone had gone home, accusing her of hurting Arthur when she pushed him. She decided Jean couldn’t be around the kids alone until she is “feeling better and calmer”.

“You can see them, just not on your own,” Stacey insisted. “You’re not well. You need help. You need to see a doctor and until you do, you ain’t seeing them kids.”

A tearful Jean was stunned by her daughter’s ultimatum as the episode closed.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
