The Upshaws star added: ‘I was real excited about that, but then I realized, out of all the jobs that I have, this one is actually gonna cost me money.’

Kimmel responded, ‘It is going to cost you money – will you say how much you get paid for this?’

Sykes said, ‘I don’t even know it’s, like, scale probably,’ in reference to the minimum pay members of the SAG-AFTRA union receive for work on projects.

Kimmel said it was ‘less than’ scale, revealing the salary he received when he hosted the show in 2017 and 2018.

‘It’s less than that,’ Kimmel said. ‘I got paid $ 15,000 to host the Oscars. And there’s one of me! You guys will probably have to split that. ‘

Kimmel and Sykes explained how the job is a complicated one that takes ‘months of work leading up to it,’ adding that Sykes should look to rework her deal as the date rapidly approaches.

‘You’re getting robbed – you know what?’ Kimmel said. ‘Hold out right now because they need hosts, you know?’

Sykes joked, ‘Well, I’ve already decided I’m just going to steal an Oscar.’

The Black-ish star gave fans a sneak peek at what she and her co-hosts have planned for Sunday’s show.

‘We’re going to share a monologue at the top of the show, and then you’ll see us in different’ instances, adding, ‘Either we’ll be together, it might be two of us, it might be one of us, who knows? ‘

She added: ‘To be honest, it’s like whoever gets drunk is gonna be the one that’s backstage – so if you see Amy and Regina out, you can just go, “Wanda’s drunk, she’s backstage, drunk.”

Kimmel asked Sykes if she would drink during the show, and she said she might after the first act.

‘You get the big part out of the way; I’m here to have fun, it’s not like I’m getting paid, ‘she said. ‘Get what you pay for: You want sober Wanda, you gotta add some more zeroes and move that comma … you’re getting free Wanda.’

The Oscars are slated to be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Sunday and will be broadcast live on ABC at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PST.
