Gordon Ramsay says he ‘can’t stand’ the Cornish

Gordon Ramsay has continued to slam Cornish people in his latest interview. On Wednesday (March 23) the Kitchen Nightmares star hit out at his Cornwall neighbors once again as he told Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2 that he “can’t stand the Cornish”.

Gordon started off by revealing that he loves spending time in Cornwall, with an impressive property portfolio across the county, but residing predominantly in his Rock abode. But as the interview went on it was clear that the TV chef doesn’t hold the same affection towards the residents.

Discussing his dream dish to make, Gordon said: “I would go down to the beautiful Cornish coast and get a little line-caught seabass and do that with a little light crushed potatoes. Trust me I absolutely love Cornwall, it’s just the Cornish I can’t stand. “

Vernon, taken aback by Gordons comments interjected and said: “He said that not me. He said that not me. That’s the G-man, that’s nothing to do with me!” To which Gordon replied: “I’m sorry. I promise I did mean it”. Vernon told him: “Alright, Vicky has been on and she’s said: ‘Oi! I’m Cornish and I’m lovely.'”

The interview with Kay came only days after Gordon defended being in Cornwall during the first Covid lockdown. He spent most of it at his Daymer Bay property with his family of him, rather than in his London pad of him.

Gordon and his family did arrive in Cornwall prior to the imposition of lockdown, but the celebrity chef angered locals, who claimed they saw him in Rock, Fowey, Port Isaac and Newquay despite the strict restrictions in place at the time.

The Hell’s Kitchen star recently said to Radio Times, in an interview, that the family had an “amazing” time in Cornwall. But he was perplexed by negative reaction from locals. “God knows why we took so much s *** from the Cornish,” he said. “We lived down there; we just hadn’t been down there for a long time. We didn’t sneak down there at all. We got there at an appropriate time and had an absolutely amazing time. “
