Holby City spoilers follow.
Holby City fans, the time has come. Next week’s unmissable episode will mark the end of the show’s 22 years on screen, but there’s still plenty to look forward to before we say goodbye forever.
From Jac’s fate being revealed and a handful of exciting returns to Hanssen’s final decision over his future, here are the six biggest moments to watch out for (one last time):
1. Jac’s surgery aftermath
The reverberations of Jac’s surgery impact around Darwin and beyond, with Sacha, Fletch and Elliot all fearful of what happens next.
Details of Jac’s fate are being kept tightly under wraps until the episode, but her story will play a pivotal role in the episode – with plenty of twists and turns until the very end.
What will the outcome be for Jac? And will life on Wyvern Wing ever be the same again?
2. Dom struggles with his insecurities
A wounded Dom feels more left out than ever after learning Josh and Ange have closed him out of their family crises.
He’s further hurt to learn that Chloe has played an integral part in Josh’s recovery too and begins to feel like an outsider all over again.
3. Dom and Ange make peace
Hurt over Ange’s secrecy, Dom questions whether she even considers him as her son or not.
Ange does her best to reassure a confused Dom, but can they put their differences aside as time runs out for a favorite patient? Well, Dawn Steele – who plays Ange – seems to think so.
“Dom and Ange have a lot to do together in the last episode and that was really lovely,” she said. “It was proper teary and emotional. It ties things up and I feel we’ve come full circle in our story.”
4. Donna and Hanssen support Lexy
Donna and Hanssen rally around Lexy after the bad news she received last night (March 22).
However, Lexy is determined to seize the day and make the most of the time she has left. Perhaps Hanssen could learn a thing or two from her example about her? Speaking of which …
5. Hanssen reconsiders his future
It’s only right that show stalwart Henrik Hanssen would play a fundamental role in the final episode, and Lexy’s situation prompts him to reconsider his future.
Holby bosses are keeping tight-lipped about how we’ll leave Hanssen, and whether a reunion with Russ could be on the cards (he’s in the cast list, so that’s something at least). And Guy Henry – who plays Hanssen – has also hinted at a happy ending for his alter ego di lui …
6. Six big returns
Along with some moving moments from the current cast, we’ll also be seeing six familiar faces back on our screens as well.
Holby City has announced the returns of Mo Effanga (Chizzy Akudolu), Ric (Hugh Quarshie), Joseph (Luke Roberts), Jason (Jules Robertson), and Serena and Bernie (Catherine Russell and Jemma Redgrave respectively).
But you’ll have to tune in to see how and why they make their final appearances in Holby‘s swansong.
Holby City‘s final episode will air on Tuesday, March 29 at 7.50pm on BBC One.
